3 Days / 2 Nights – Chobe Short Safari (MOST POPULAR QUICK TRIP)

Highlights

Overview

This 3 Days / 2 Nights Chobe Short Safari offers a compact but highly rewarding wildlife experience in northern Botswana, focused on the iconic Chobe National Park. The park is globally renowned for its dense elephant population, exceptional predator sightings, and unique combination of land and water-based safari experiences.

This itinerary is designed for travelers with limited time who still want a true African safari experience featuring game drives, river safaris, and close-range wildlife encounters along the Chobe River floodplains.

Highlights

This itinerary offers some of the best wildlife experiences in Southern Africa in a short time frame. The key highlight is the combination of land safari and river safari within the same destination. The elephant populations in Chobe National Park are among the largest in the world, making sightings almost guaranteed.

The Chobe River cruise is a signature experience where wildlife viewing happens at very close range. The itinerary also offers high chances of predator sightings, particularly lions and hyenas, along with rich birdlife diversity.

Day by Day Itinerary

1

Day 1: Arrival in Kasane – Chobe Safari Experience Begins

Upon arrival at Kasane Airport or at the Botswana border crossing point, you will be met by your professional safari representative and transferred to your lodge located near the Chobe River or within close proximity to Chobe National Park.

Check-in at the lodge and take time to relax after your journey while enjoying views of the surrounding wilderness and river environment. Depending on arrival time, you may proceed for your first safari experience in the afternoon, typically a sunset boat cruise on the Chobe River, where wildlife begins to gather at the water’s edge.

During the cruise, expect close encounters with hippos, crocodiles, elephants crossing the river, buffalo herds, and a variety of bird species. The golden-hour lighting makes this one of the most scenic wildlife experiences in Africa.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay, with the sounds of the African bush creating a natural backdrop.

Day 2: Full Day Chobe Safari – Game Drive and River Cruise

Your day begins early with breakfast followed by a morning game drive inside Chobe National Park. This is the prime time for wildlife activity, as predators are still active and herbivores move across the plains.

The game drive explores diverse habitats including riverfront floodplains, woodland areas, and open savannah. Expect to encounter large elephant herds, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, impalas, and potentially lions, leopards, or hyenas depending on luck and movement patterns.

Mid-morning, you return to the lodge for a late breakfast and relaxation period. You may enjoy lodge facilities such as viewing decks overlooking the river or swimming pool.

In the afternoon, you embark on a second major highlight of the safari, a Chobe River boat cruise. This water-based safari offers a completely different perspective of wildlife. Elephants often gather in large numbers along the riverbanks, sometimes crossing directly in front of the boat. Hippos are commonly seen in pods, while crocodiles bask along sandy shores.

Birdlife is also exceptional, with species such as fish eagles, kingfishers, herons, and storks frequently observed. The combination of sunset light and wildlife activity creates a dramatic and photographic experience.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
