3 Days / 2 Nights Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater National Park Safari Tanzania

Early morning departure from Arusha or nearby locations after breakfast. The journey passes through the highlands of Ngorongoro Conservation Area, offering scenic views of volcanic landscapes, rural villages, and open plains.

Entry into Serengeti National Park is through Naabi Hill Gate, where the first game drive begins immediately. This transitional drive is crucial as wildlife sightings often start even before reaching your accommodation zone.

Expect encounters with:

• Elephants moving in family groups

• Large herds of wildebeest and zebras (season dependent)

• Lions resting under acacia trees

• Gazelles and antelopes grazing in open plains

• Warthogs, hyenas, and rich birdlife

Arrive at your lodge or tented camp in the late afternoon. After check-in, enjoy dinner and overnight stay surrounded by the sounds of the African wilderness.

This is the most important and intensive day of the safari. After an early breakfast, depart with packed lunch for a full-day exploration of different sections of the Serengeti.

Your guide will choose routes based on seasonal wildlife movement:

Central Serengeti (Seronera Area):

• High concentration of resident predators

• Excellent year-round game viewing

• River valleys attracting elephants, hippos, and crocodiles

Southern Serengeti (Ndutu Area – seasonal):

• Calving season (December–March)

• High predator activity due to newborn wildebeest

• Ideal for cheetah and lion hunting scenes

Northern Serengeti (Kogatende – seasonal):

• Mara River crossings during migration (July–October)

• Dramatic crocodile and wildebeest encounters

Throughout the day, expect:

• Lion prides resting or hunting

• Cheetahs scanning the plains for prey

• Leopards in acacia trees (rare but possible)

• Elephants crossing vast grasslands

• Massive herds of wildebeest and zebra

Lunch is served picnic-style under a designated safe site in the park. Game drives continue into the afternoon until sunset, when wildlife becomes more active again.

Return to camp for dinner and overnight stay.

After an early breakfast at your lodge or tented camp, begin your journey from Serengeti National Park with an en-route morning game drive as you exit the park. This is a key opportunity to spot predators such as lions, hyenas, and cheetahs that are often active during the early hours.

The drive continues through the scenic highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, offering dramatic landscapes of volcanic mountains, rolling hills, and Maasai villages. Along the way, you may spot wildlife such as zebras, antelopes, and elephants outside the crater rim region.

Ngorongoro Crater Experience 

Descend into the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater (time permitting) for a short game drive inside the crater floor, often described as a natural “Garden of Eden.” The crater hosts one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa, including:

• Black rhino (rare and protected)

• Large lion prides

• Buffalo herds

• Hippos in swamp pools

• Flamingos at seasonal lakes

• Wildebeest and zebras in open grasslands

If time allows, enjoy a picnic lunch inside the crater at a designated site.

Ascend and Return to Arusha

After the crater visit, ascend back to the crater rim and continue your drive toward Arusha. The journey passes through lush highlands, coffee plantations, and rural settlements, offering a final glimpse of Tanzania’s diverse landscapes.

Arrive in Arusha in the late afternoon or early evening, where your safari concludes with drop-off at your hotel or airport for onward travel.
