Day by Day Itinerary

1

Day 1: Arrival in Victoria Falls – Gateway to the Smoke That Thunders

Upon arrival at Victoria Falls Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your safari representative and transferred to your selected accommodation, located within close proximity to Victoria Falls.

Depending on your arrival time, the afternoon is yours to unwind or begin exploring this vibrant safari town. You may take a leisurely walk through the local curio markets, visit cafes, or opt for an introductory activity such as a Zambezi River sunset cruise, where you can enjoy panoramic views, drifting hippos, and crocodiles along the riverbanks.

Accommodation options typically range from comfortable mid-range lodges to luxury riverside retreats, offering lush gardens, pools, and views of the surrounding bushveld. Dinner can be enjoyed at the lodge or at one of the town’s popular restaurants.

2

Day 2: Victoria Falls Experience – Nature, Adventure & Culture

After breakfast, embark on a guided tour of Victoria Falls, locally known as “Mosi-oa-Tunya” (The Smoke That Thunders). Your guide will lead you through rainforest pathways to multiple viewpoints, explaining the geology, history, and significance of the falls. During high water season, the spray creates a dramatic mist visible from miles away, while in low water season, the rock formations and depth of the gorge become more pronounced.

The afternoon offers a range of optional experiences tailored to different interests. Adventure seekers can enjoy helicopter flights over the falls, bungee jumping from the Victoria Falls Bridge, or white-water rafting (seasonal). For a more relaxed pace, consider a cultural village visit or a second sunset cruise on the Zambezi River, complete with refreshments and wildlife sightings.

Return to your lodge for a restful evening surrounded by the sounds of the African bush.

3

Day 3: Transfer to Hwange National Park – Into the Wild

Following breakfast, depart for Hwange National Park, a journey of approximately 2–3 hours by road or via a unique safari rail transfer (optional), offering scenic views of rural Zimbabwe.

Upon arrival at your safari lodge, you will be welcomed with refreshments and lunch before settling into your room. Hwange is renowned for its vast elephant populations, diverse ecosystems, and excellent predator sightings, including lions, leopards, and wild dogs.

In the afternoon, set out on your first game drive in an open 4x4 safari vehicle, guided by experienced rangers. The park’s waterholes attract large concentrations of wildlife, especially during the dry season, providing exceptional photographic opportunities.

Return to the lodge at sunset for dinner and relaxation around the campfire, often accompanied by distant sounds of wildlife.

4

Day 4: Hwange Safari – Departure

Your final day begins with an early morning game drive in Hwange National Park, the best time to observe predators returning from the night’s hunt and herbivores grazing in the cool morning light. This is often one of the most rewarding safari moments.

After returning to the lodge for breakfast, you will check out and begin your transfer back to Victoria Falls Airport. Depending on your flight schedule, a packed lunch or brief stop in town can be arranged before your onward journey.
