Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Victoria Falls
Upon arrival at Victoria Falls Airport, you will be met by your safari representative and transferred to your lodge or hotel. The town surrounding Victoria Falls is lively and welcoming, offering a mix of local culture, restaurants, and craft markets.
Depending on your arrival time, you may choose to relax at your lodge or take a short walk into town to get a feel for the destination. Budget accommodations are carefully selected to ensure comfort, cleanliness, and convenient access to key attractions. The evening is at leisure, with the option to dine at the lodge or explore local eateries.
Day 2: Guided Victoria Falls Experience
After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of Victoria Falls, one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world. As you walk through the rainforest trails, your guide will share insights into the formation of the falls, local legends, and the surrounding ecosystem.
The experience varies by season, with dramatic spray during high water months and clearer views of the gorge during lower water periods.
In the afternoon, you have the option to enhance your experience with budget-friendly activities such as a Zambezi River sunset cruise or a cultural village visit. The evening is free for relaxation or additional exploration.
Day 3: Transfer to Hwange National Park
Following breakfast, depart for Hwange National Park, a journey of approximately two to three hours. The drive offers glimpses of rural Zimbabwe and changing landscapes as you head into one of Africa’s premier wildlife reserves.
Upon arrival, check in at your safari lodge and enjoy lunch. Budget lodges in Hwange are typically located near waterholes, which attract a variety of animals throughout the day.
In the afternoon, head out for your first game drive in an open safari vehicle. Hwange is renowned for its large elephant herds, as well as lions, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and numerous antelope species. Dinner is served at the lodge, followed by an evening under the stars.
Day 4: Full Day Safari in Hwange National Park
This day is dedicated to exploring Hwange National Park in greater depth. Early morning and late afternoon game drives provide the best opportunities for wildlife viewing, as animals are most active during cooler hours.
You may also have the option of a midday rest at the lodge, where you can observe animals visiting nearby waterholes. Some lodges offer basic walking safaris or hide-based viewing experiences, adding variety to your safari.
With more time in the park, your chances of spotting the Big Five increase, making this a highlight of the itinerary. The day concludes with dinner and storytelling around the campfire.
Day 5: Hwange – Return to Victoria Falls – Departure
Your final day begins with an early morning game drive, offering one last opportunity to experience the magic of Hwange National Park.
After breakfast, you will check out and transfer back to Victoria Falls Airport for your onward journey. Depending on your departure time, there may be an opportunity for a brief stop in town before your flight.
