Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Maun – Transfer to Okavango Delta

Upon arrival at Maun Airport, you will be met by your safari guide and assisted with your onward transfer into the Okavango Delta by light aircraft or 4x4 transfer depending on camp location and water levels.

On arrival at your safari camp, you will be welcomed and briefed about your stay. After settling in, enjoy your first afternoon activity, which may include a short mokoro excursion or a sunset boat safari through the channels of the Delta.

Dinner and overnight stay at your camp deep within the Delta wilderness.

Day 2: Okavango Delta – Water Safari Experience

The day begins early with breakfast followed by a full immersion into Delta activities. You will explore the waterways using traditional mokoro canoes, gliding silently through reed-lined channels where wildlife thrives along the banks.

Expect sightings of elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and abundant birdlife including kingfishers, herons, and fish eagles. Depending on the camp location, you may also enjoy guided walking safaris on nearby islands, offering close-up encounters with smaller wildlife and tracks.

Return to camp for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, continue with either a boat safari or another mokoro excursion followed by a scenic sunset experience over the Delta floodplains.

Day 3: Okavango Delta – Full Safari Exploration

Today is dedicated to deeper exploration of the Okavango Delta ecosystem. Morning activities may include walking safaris led by experienced trackers, focusing on animal tracking, plant life, and ecosystem interpretation.

The Delta is home to elephants, buffalo, lechwe antelope, and various predator species depending on the concession area. The combination of water and land habitats makes this one of the most diverse safari environments in Africa.

Afternoon activities continue with mokoro or motorboat safaris through channels and lagoons. The pace is relaxed and highly immersive, focusing on nature observation and photography.

Day 4: Transfer to Khwai / Moremi Area

After breakfast, you will transfer from the Delta to the Khwai concession or Moremi Game Reserve region, located on the edge of the Okavango ecosystem.

This transition introduces a shift from water-based safari to classic 4x4 game drives in open savannah and woodland habitats within the famous wildlife corridors of Khwai and Moremi Game Reserve.

Upon arrival at your lodge or camp, enjoy lunch and relax before heading out for an afternoon game drive. This area is known for excellent predator sightings including lions, leopards, and African wild dogs.

Day 5: Full Day Khwai / Moremi Safari

Today is a full-day safari experience in one of Botswana’s richest wildlife regions. Early morning game drives explore the Khwai River region where animals gather in large numbers.

You may encounter elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and large prides of lions. The region is also known for frequent leopard sightings in riverine forests and excellent birdlife diversity.

A picnic lunch may be enjoyed in the bush or return to camp depending on lodge arrangements.

In the afternoon, continue with game drives into different sections of the reserve, maximizing wildlife viewing opportunities before returning to camp at sunset.

Day 6: Morning Game Drive – Departure

Begin the final day with an early morning game drive in Khwai or Moremi Game Reserve, offering a final opportunity to spot predators and active wildlife.
