DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Nairobi – Nanyuki – Sirimon Gate – Old Moses Camp (3,300 m)
Drive from Nairobi to Nanyuki (~3.5 hrs). Register at Sirimon Gate, trek through forest and bamboo to Old Moses Camp.
Distance: 9 km | 3–4 hrs
Meals: Lunch, Dinner | Overnight: Old Moses Camp
Day 2: Old Moses – Shipton’s Camp (4,200 m)
Hike through moorland and Mackinder Valley with views of Batian & Nelion peaks.
Distance: 14 km | 6–7 hrs
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner | Overnight: Shipton’s Camp
Day 3: Acclimatization Day at Shipton’s Camp
Light hike to Hauberg Col or Kami Hut to acclimatize.

Day 4: Shipton’s – Point Lenana (4,985 m) – Mintos Camp (4,200 m)
Early morning summit attempt (start ~2 a.m.), reach Point Lenana for sunrise, descend to Mintos Camp.
Distance: 11 km | 8–9 hrs
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner | Overnight: Mintos Camp
Day 5: Mintos – Gorges Valley – Lake Ellis – Meru Bandas (2,850 m)
Scenic descent past Lakes Michaelson & Ellis, Vivienne Falls, and the Gorges Valley.
Distance: 20 km | 6–7 hrs
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner | Overnight: Meru Bandas
Day 6: Chogoria Gate – Chogoria Town – Nairobi
Short trek or 4×4 drive to Chogoria Gate; transfer to Nairobi (~5 hrs).

Day by Day Itinerary
DAY 1: NAIROBI – NANYUKI – SIRIMON GATE – OLD MOSES CAMP (3,300 m)

Depart Nairobi early morning and drive north to Nanyuki (approx. 4 hours). Proceed to Sirimon Gate (2,650 m) for park registration. Begin your trek through lush montane forest, bamboo, and giant heather zones as you ascend gently to Old Moses Camp (3,300 m).
This first day’s hike is perfect for acclimatization and enjoying the forest wildlife such as colobus monkeys and birds.
DAY 2: OLD MOSES CAMP – SHIPTON’S CAMP (4,200 m)
After breakfast, follow the trail up through moorland and across the Ontulili River. Continue through the expansive Mackinder Valley, with spectacular views of Batian and Nelion peaks ahead.
Arrive at Shipton’s Camp in the afternoon for rest and acclimatization.
DAY 3: ACCLIMATIZATION DAY AT SHIPTON’S CAMP (4,200 m)
Spend the day at Shipton’s Camp for acclimatization and preparation for the summit. Optional hike to Hausberg Col (4,600 m) or Kami Hut (4,500 m) to aid altitude adjustment, followed by rest in the afternoon.
This day greatly improves your summit success rate.

Overnight: Shipton’s Camp
DAY 4: SHIPTON’S – POINT LENANA (4,985 m) – OLD MOSES CAMP (3,300 m)
Wake up early (around 2:30 a.m.) for your summit attempt. Trek up steep scree and rocky switchbacks to reach Point Lenana (4,985 m) at sunrise — the third-highest peak on Mt. Kenya and the highest accessible to trekkers without climbing gear.
After celebrating and taking photos, descend back to Shipton’s for breakfast, then continue descending to Old Moses Camp for your final night on the mountain.

Overnight: Old Moses Camp
DAY 5: OLD MOSES – SIRIMON GATE – NANYUKI – NAIROBI
After breakfast, descend leisurely to Sirimon Gate (2,650 m), where your vehicle will be waiting. Drive back to Nairobi, arriving in the afternoon.
Trekking time: 2–3 hours | Distance: 9 km
